Wine Stain

Wine Stain was painted in 2002 - 2020 on a 24” x 24”, 61 cm x 61 cm, 1/4" plexiglass panel using mixed paint media.  Wine Stain has a high gloss resin finish.

Wine Stain started out when I was exploring pattern paintings in 2002. It sat around for 18 years until it was completed in 2020 when a black pigment dispersion was applied to a pool of transparent binder. A close inspection reveals the delicacy of the reticulated pigment floating on the clear binder. Another sitting applied the ghostly yellow gold iridescent marks in the center of this painting.

Wine Stain refers to the stain of a wine or the stain on a face.
