Freak Flag

Freak Flag is painted on an 11.75 x 11.75, 30 cm x 30 cm, ¼ ” black, plexiglass panel using mixed paint media. Freak Flag has a high gloss resin finish and was worked on several times over a period of 11 years from 2002 to 2020.

Freak Flag began in 2009 as a simple pattern painting. At some point translucent black binder was added to soften the dot pattern. A layer of resin was applied once the paint dried. In 2020 a central figure was added using clear and blue tinted binder. Pigment dispersions of a light green and pink were floated on the surface. The painting was tipped in several directions rolling the pigment under the binder and printing it to the surface below.
